The Islands project aims to increase the active participation of young people living on the Adriatic islands.
The project includes several target groups on the islands: children and youth, youth workers, decision-makers at the local level and the general public. Through the programme “Youth work za 5!” at least 8 people who work with youth on the islands will strengthen their competencies for working with young people and encouraging active citizenship. Also, 30 children and young people will be prepared for active citizenship and video activism through the creation of their own short films about the challenges faced by young people on the islands. Their work will be presented to decision-makers and the local community through public events at which a structured dialogue will take place on possible solutions to the challenges that children and young people have identified, and this will also start the process of collaborative development of recommendations for the active involvement of young people in the community and decision-making at the local level. Based on the participation of all target groups, a public advocacy campaign will be implemented with the aim of making the community aware of the needs and position of young people on the islands.
The project is being carried out by organisations Filmaktiv and Delta in cooperation with local NGOs on three islands (Krk, Rab and Cres). The project lasts from January 1st 2023, until December 31st 2023 and is carried out with the financial support of the Central State Office of Demography and Youth.
