The project „Healthy relationships“ focuses on the lack of quality content in comprehensive sex education (CSE) in school curricula, the lack of recognition of its importance by relevant stakeholders, and the stigma around CSE based on inaccurate information. The objectives of the project are to gather evidence for advocating the introduction of CSE in elementary schools and high schools, to establish a dialogue related to the topic with representatives of regional governments, and to raise public awareness about the benefits of CSE in elementary schools and high schools.
Key activities include research activities in schools, advocacy activities aimed at the introduction of CSE in schools, and activities aimed at raising public awareness about the benefits of CSE. The project aspires to establish long-term cooperation with local governments and civil society organisations (CSOs) that want to introduce CSE in their communities. Strengthening the capacities of CSOs contributes to sustainability and opens up space for new cooperation on the national and international levels.
The project also contributes to ensuring gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence because the CSE curriculum acts as a prevention mechanism and breaks down gender stereotypes and roles. In this way, the project contributes to building a more equitable and inclusive society, especially for vulnerable groups.
“Healthy Relationships” is implemented by the Association for Human Rights and Civic Participation PaRiter in partnership with SOS Rijeka – Center for Nonviolence and Human Rights, Lesbian Organization Rijeka “LORI”, Association Delta, KUN Center for Equality and Diversity from Norway, the City of Rijeka and Varaždin County. The project is implemented in cooperation with Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and Sisak-Moslavina County as associated partners.
The project is supported with €90.000,00 in funding from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway within the framework of the European Economic Area and Norwegian grants.
