Comprehensive sexual education for healthy relationships and a healthy society

ABOUT ACTIVITY

From January 16th to January 19th 2023 we exchanged knowledge and experience in implementing and advocating for comprehensive sexual education (CSE) with our partners on the project „Healthy relationships“.

We spent the first part of the training exchanging experiences in the field of human rights education with an emphasis on gender equality and empowerment, work-life balance, gender-based violence and gender diversity. We also had the opportunity to compare the work of our organisations in Croatia and Norway, as well as different cultural and historical contexts.

After that, we attended a two-day training held by our Norwegian partner KUN Center for Equality and Diversity. The training was organised for educators who want to implement new content and activities in their work on CSE, with a special focus on those who work with children and young people in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Varaždin County and Sisak-Moslavina County. About 20 educators, teachers, psychologists, and CSO representatives attended the training. Through a combination of theory, examples, and practical exercises, we explored different methods aimed primarily at providing scientific evidence, encouraging critical thinking, and creating a safe environment for all students and other stakeholders in schools.

“Healthy Relationships” is implemented by the Association for Human Rights and Civic Participation PaRiter in partnership with SOS Rijeka – Center for Nonviolence and Human Rights, Lesbian Organization Rijeka “LORI”, Association Delta, KUN Center for Equality and Diversity from Norway, the City of Rijeka and Varaždin County. The project is supported with €90.000,00 in funding from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway within the European Economic Area and Norwegian grants framework.
