Discover Rijeka's Associations! Youth Actively Engaged in the Community and Dialogue with Decision-Makers

On a sunny Thursday, May 25, 2023, three different locations were the focal points of the event "Discover Rijeka's Associations!"

Young people discovered six organizations focused on their needs and the European youth goals

Young people had the opportunity to learn about the work of six organizations dedicated to addressing the needs of youth. Alongside Delta, LORI, PaRiter, Ri Rock & Radio Roža, CTK Rijeka, and EUROPE DIRECT Rijeka presented their activities and projects, aligning them with the European youth goals. Young people had the chance to gain insight into the diverse opportunities these organizations provide and how they can actively participate in various initiatives.

In Delta, we actively engage young people in the local community, aiming to encourage and empower them to become involved in society through various activities. The Lesbian Organization Rijeka “LORI” supports and promotes the rights and interests of young people, creating an inclusive environment for their participation in society—with a focus on LGBTIQ+ rights. PaRiter is dedicated to promoting gender equality, human rights, and combating discrimination. Their work includes various projects and activities aimed at young people, empowering them to actively participate in society. Ri Rock is a music association that promotes alternative music and organizes concerts and festivals for young musicians. Radio Roža is an independent radio station providing a platform for the promotion of young artists and their musical projects. The Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka encourages young people to develop technical skills and interests through various educational programs, fostering their creativity. Europe Direct is a network of centres providing information about the European Union to citizens. Europe Direct Rijeka supports young people in staying informed about EU opportunities and programs and promotes their active participation in European issues.

How Can Young People Express Their Needs to the City of Rijeka?

Lucija and Alen from the Administrative Department of Education and Schooling, Culture, Sports and Youth joined the event to share more information about the Rijeka Youth Program. The representatives of the City administration were ready to listen to the young people, their ideas, and their needs, explaining how they could communicate with the city and express their opinions. Young people became more aware of the importance of active participation and how their ideas could contribute to change.

The activity was done as part of the Erasmus+ project “Rijeka 4 You(th)”. The project is implemented by the City of Rijeka, CTK Rijeka and Delta. It is focused on connecting young people and representatives of the City of Rijeka in achieving the goals of the Rijeka Youth Program through 12 activities throughout 2023 and 2024.
