How Does the Banana Affect the Head? - High School Students in Križevci Implemented Their Project on Reproductive and Mental Health

The winning project of “Take Action!” in Križevci connected mental and reproductive health through a talk show with experts – gynaecologist Dimče Sertić and psychologist Ivana Sopić Lumezi.

Ana Kopilović, a student from the Ivan Zakmardija Dijankovečki Grammar School in Križevci, took on the role of the talk show moderator. The students of the winning group had previously gathered questions by surveying their peers in schools to ensure relevant topics for discussion.

The aim of the project "How Does the Banana Affect the Head?" was to educate young people about the importance of mental and reproductive health and open a dialogue on these topics. Gynecologist Dimče Sertić shared his expertise on reproductive health, while psychologist Ivana Sopić Lumezi provided insight into the importance of caring for mental health related to sexuality.

Students eagerly followed the presentation and participated in the discussion. Topics such as the prevention of reproductive diseases, the importance of contraception, mental well-being, and similar issues were addressed in an accessible and interesting manner.

The winning project created bridges between young people, experts, and the local community

This project has a dual significance because, in addition to educating young people, it also facilitated the creation of bridges between schools, experts, and the local community. The involvement of the Youth Center Križevci provided support to the team and demonstrated how collaboration with civil society can have a positive impact on young people in the community. The financial support from the City of Križevci enabled the team to implement their ideas and goals, and the support of the City of Križevci is crucial for the active involvement of youth in decision-making and the implementation of activities in the future.

The project "Think, act, participate! - Strengthening Youth Participation Through Active Involvement in Policy-making and Advocacy" is implemented by the Association Delta in partnership with the City of Rijeka, the City of Opatija and the City of Križevci. The project is co-financed by the Central State Office for Demography and Youth, the City of Rijeka, the City of Opatija and the City of Križevci.
