Youth dialogue pioneers ready for local actions
ABOUT ACTIVITY
From March 26th to March 30th, 2023, we participated in a training programme for young people from Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Crikvenica. Young individuals actively engaged in (or aspiring to work on) improving their communities spent fulfilling days learning, socializing, and forming a strong network of young people with a shared desire to bring about positive changes in their communities.
Our youth workers, Ema (Delta) and Mirela Pašić (Štošta), had a pleasant experience with other trainers and young participants, filled with positive energy and a strong focus on the importance of youth activism.
The training began with an introduction of the participants, followed by discussions on youth participation and the exchange of best practices in the three countries. On the second day, the youth were introduced to methods of identifying needs and defining problems within their local communities. They compared different stakeholders in their communities and identified ways to effectively collaborate with them. The third day involved a role-playing dialogue, leading to the planning of local actions to effectively transform ideas into practice. On the fourth day, the focus shifted further towards advocacy and ways to communicate with our target groups using digital tools. The final day was focused on refining and pitching ideas for local actions, and reflection and evaluation. The participants also had the opportunity to complete their Youthpass – a tool for recognizing non-formal learning experiences.
A group of young women from Croatia decided to conduct a needs assessment at one of the faculties of the University of Rijeka and use the results to organize a meeting between students and the head of the faculty.
The training for youth dialogue pioneers was organized by the Arka Foundation from Belgrade in collaboration with the Sanchild Foundation from Sarajevo and the Association Delta from Rijeka, as part of the Erasmus+ project "Youth Dialogue Pioneers in Southeast Europe (SEE)." The project is co-funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program.
